A Film Review: Fight Club

Hello people! How are you? This week in our course we learned about online collaborative writing and we were given a new task. We were supposed to use one of the online collaborative writing tools available to create a text. We were supposed to work in groups of three. So, I teamed up with my friends Emircan and Abdalhamet to write a film review. We were also given a feedback by another group as our instructor told. Our review is about fight club. You can see the text below including the feedback! Hope you like it!

And here is the trailer of the movie, if you are interested.

Design

As mentioned we were supposed work in groups of three. We had two options to choose from. Our instructor wanted us to work with either Padlet or Google Documents. We chose to write a film review using Google Documents as our instructor wanted. The process was very easy since we have used Google Documents a million times before for our other classes. We divided the paragraphs between us and then checked it altogether. It made writing much easier and faster.

Writing

As mentioned, we divided the paragraphs between us. In the end, we came together to evaluate our writing overall. We had so much fun while writing because it was about a movie we all love. Teamwork made the writing process much easier than i thought it would make.

Feedback

As a part of our task we were supposed to give and to be given feedback. We got help from our classmates Bade, Elif, and Badia on this one. (You can check their blogs by clicking their names) They gave us feedback and in the same way we gave them feedback as well. In my opinion, the comments helped both groups to reflect on their work and write better in the future.

My Opinions

I personally don't like collaborative writing in general because everyone has a unique style of writing and that can harm the coherence of the text. But even then, this task showed me how it can alleviate the workload. It fastened the process and I changed my mind quite a bit. I may use collaborative writing every now and then in the future and it can also be beneficial for my students in the future. What about you? What do you think? Please let me know!

See you until next time! Take care!
